Word problem?

I’m having a problem with ms word. I’m running Office 2000 prof., and every time I try to open a doent within word the doent comes up with changed fonts, and all the formatting for the doent is displayed. If I open the same doent by double clicking the doent name in Windows Explorer the doent comes up perfectly. Out of desperation I’ve reloaded word twice, but to no avail. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening?
