The Sun, light, and an infinitely tensioned wire?

The confusing mix of answers you have received, notwithstanding, yes, according to Einstein's General Theory of Relativity, the wire would be "bent" because the space it occupied itself would be curved by the gravity fiield. But it would not appear curved to a conventional observer - to you or I - just as we cannot see the curvature of space that gives us the effect of gravitational attraction.
