Should prisons be co-gender? I thought women wanted equality?

It's bad enough that the judicial system is much more lenient on women but they also reap the benefit of going to white-collar resort prisons while men get sent to federal pound me in the a.ss prisons. If men and women are truly equal why are they segregated in prisons? Everything else in life: academics, the corporate world, etc is co-gender.
