How to get base color and highlights too look more natural?

Hey! you can accomplish the more natural look by dying your hair color closer to the color of highlights... you definitely have to stay close in colors.. like if you look at fergies base color and highlights they very much blend together.. what you want to tell the hair dresser is .. that you want thin highlights but a lot of them all over... and tell her you want it to blend with your base color.. that way it wont stand out the way your hair does right now.. Dying it one color first and then getting highlights its the best way.. thats what i do.
