Display Driver stopped responding?

I had just finished watching a movie on my laptop(I have a compaq)with Vista...and afterwards about ten minutes or so, the screen went completely black, and then reappeared and said Display driver stopped responding but repaired itself or something like that, whats happening, is there anything i can do to fix this?
